Improving Coastal Surveillance...
Improving Coastal Surveillance Missions with STYRIS®

Today, ensuring safer oceans is of paramount importance across many domains:
- Traffic monitoring: maritime traffic has never been so dense, requiring precise real-time monitoring to ensure navigation safety and improve critical response in case of emergency incidents.
- Wildlife preservation: protecting our environment and ensuring sustainable fishing resources.
- Illegal border crossing: guaranteeing national security and border sovereignty is more challenging than ever, especially with growing unstable geopolitical situations that are increasing pressure on maritime borders.
- Other illegal activities (such as drug trafficking, smuggling).
Coastal surveillance systems are ideal for addressing these challenges and for supporting mitigation actions. They enable rapid and coherent decision-making processes and contribute to optimising the use of traditional methods such as maritime patrol aircraft and emergency vessels.

STYRIS® is an end-to-end coastal surveillance system, combining a variety of sensors, such as radar, weather, AIS and VHF, to collect data and a responsive software interface that provides a comprehensive situational view on what is happening within a specified maritime area, in real time.
End-users are then able to efficiently monitor traffic to ensure safety of navigation for vessels and people. Information on vessels (ID card, speed, heading, etc) is instantly accessible and dark vessels having switched off their AIS signal are easy to identify. Customisable operational alarms allow any abnormal behaviour to be detected. STYRIS® is the perfect tool to support navies, coastguards, maritime authorities and administrations in their day-to-day work.

STYRIS® features a customised, user-centric interface design with a cyber-secured integrated platform which allows for flexible and secure data exchange with other surveillance centres. Seamless integration of sensors is possible at any time to adapt to evolving environments and needs. Therefore, operators can monitor a large area, focus on critical situations and react efficiently and effectively knowing the full maritime picture.
