Roughly 80% of this production comes from Tongyeong, an archipelago in the South Gyeongsang Province in South Korea.
5 m long oyster stings are suspended on a submerged longline, which is supported by numerous buoys. The technique encourages oysters to grow quickly and develop strong shells. Pléiades Neo imagery shows a barge harvesting the oysters from the longline.
