Airbus supports Geoimage, a leading provider of geospatial solutions in Australia, by providing high-resolution satellite imagery to create a seamless, high-resolution digital mosaic covering the state of New South Wales (NSW).
This initiative aligns with the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment`s (DPIE) mandate to access up-to-date, accurate and cost-effective data for monitoring and managing the state’s vast and diverse landscapes. To meet these requirements, Geoimage will leverage Airbus’ SPOT satellite, renowned for its high-resolution optical sensor, wide coverage and frequent revisits capabilities. The final mosaic will be free from atmospheric distortions, ensuring precision and reliability for critical planning and monitoring activities.
This collaboration demonstrates Airbus’ long-standing commitment to delivering wide coverage geospatial data to government agencies. High-resolution SPOT imagery continues to prove its value in enabling large-scale mosaicking projects with unparalleled accuracy and efficiency. A big thank you to our trusted partner, Geoimage, for their expertise in delivering this solution. This project marks the 17th Statewide mosaic for NSW who transitioned from SPOT-5 to SPOT6/7 in 2014.

Spanning over 800,000 square kilometers, the digital mosaic will support DPIE’s core initiatives, including vegetation monitoring, land management compliance and environmental protection. With this high-resolution imagery, NSW can detect changes in natural resources and respond to environmental challenges, enabling sustainable planning and development across the region.
