On Saturday, 26 April, at 10:37 AM CET, Airbus satellites captured a historic moment in Rome: the six-kilometre procession honouring Pope Francis, taking place from St. Peter's Basilica to St. Mary Major Basilica. Our high-resolution imagery, courtesy of the Pléiades Neo satellites, offers an unprecedented view of this journey.

The procession begins at St. Peter's Basilica, one of the most iconic landmarks in Rome. The high-resolution imagery shows the intricate details of the basilica's architecture, including its grand dome and ornate facades and provides a unique view of the thousands of people gathered in and around St. Peter's Square and cardinals for the ceremony, including archbishops, bishops and cardinals.

The Pléiades Neo imagery shows the meticulously planned route that the procession will follow after leaving St. Peter’s Square. Zoom into the image to see where the procession will later cross the Tiber River and pass by the Colosseum. We can follow the route where Pope Francis' body was later transported to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore for burial.
