Airbus and TRE Altamira sign new radar imagery framework agreement

02.06.2025

Airbus and TRE ALTAMIRA (TREA) have signed a new multi-year framework agreement, building upon a decade-long cooperation that has provided high-resolution radar imagery to monitor surface movement. This collaboration enables TREA to leverage the unique capabilities of Airbus’s TerraSAR-X and PAZ radar satellites, which offer unparalleled geometric accuracy and the ability to collect data anywhere in the world, independent of weather conditions.

The agreement grants TREA access to both the extensive radar imagery archive and series of new acquisitions from TerraSAR-X and PAZ, with resolutions ranging from 25 cm to 3 m, ensuring detailed and precise data for various applications. As a leading provider of advanced monitoring services with over 25 years of experience, TREA brings extensive technical expertise in transforming radar imagery into ground displacement measurements with millimetric accuracy. These measurements are invaluable for various applications, including managing oil field subsidence and assessing infrastructure integrity, supporting informed decision making, and ensuring environmental stability.

In addition to accessing very high-resolution modes (up to 25 cm) for facilitating the monitoring of focused areas such as bridges, pipelines, and dams, the satellites also deliver imagery with the highest orbital accuracy, further strengthening trust in the constellation. At the same time, the StripMap Mode (up to 3 m resolution) enables TREA to monitor broader areas, making it well-suited for regional-scale assessments.

The collaboration between Airbus and TREA dates back to 2012, and this renewed commitment underscores a shared commitment to deliver world-class geospatial intelligence and long-term monitoring solutions.

This new framework agreement marks more than a decade of trusted collaboration between Airbus and TRE ALTAMIRA. It reflects the growing importance of radar-based monitoring in supporting infrastructure resilience and sustainable land monitoring across industries.
