Around the medieval village of Saint-Émilion, vines cover the entire hilly landscape. Bringing together nearly 800 wine properties or “châteaux”, this vineyard, the first wine-growing territory to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. World wine consumption is around 32 billion bottles on average per year.
