Food: Coconut in Sri Lanka

06/12/2022

Native to Sri Lanka, the coconut is the sixth most cultivated fruit in the world and is available throughout the year.

In northern Sri Lanka, near the town of Jaffna, coconuts are grown near houses. They provide families with both food and additional income. With 2,200,000 tons per year, Sri Lanka is the world's second largest producer of coconuts, and fifth largest producer of tea.
